Waste water treatment basically describes the elimination of pollutants from
the used water that is developed by the various sources such as domestic and industrial units. This water cannot be directly released to the natural water sources due to its extensive degree of contamination. Waste water systems are used to discard the pollutants to treat it back to the normal level as like natural water. The treatment plants decrease the level of contaminants by passing used water through several filtration stages.

Stainless steel 304, 316l are made that can keep their bright look in natural exposure for several years specifically when the surface deposits that develop are eradicated by a periodic wash.  In marine and chloride or industrial polluted conditions, stainless steel 316l is recommended for offering prolong life and good look.

Waste water processing

Hydrogen sulphide gas can increase the corrosion rate that attacks copper alloys in the waste water treatment units. However general corrosive attacks on SS 304 and SS316l in the atmosphere and closed units such as pipes, where diluted hydrogen sulphide is present are nominal at ambient temperatures. Although in the closed systems there is risk of localized corrosive attack when diluted hydrogen sulphide and chlorides are together available at the high temperatures. The acidity of waste waters may be increased that become more of attacking nature if condensates consisting of dissolved sulfur dioxide are produced, creating sulphurous acid. These severely attacking conditions need superior grades of stainless steels such as austenitic stainless steel 904l or duplex stainless steel 2205 for use as construction material for the waste water treatment systems.
